Description
This three-part class series explores the Fourth Foundation of mindfulness — the patterns of cause and effect that shape our lived experience — and how we can learn to recognize and practice with them directly. Drawing on the Satipaṭṭhāna's framework of hindrances that weaken, awakening factors that strengthen, and the Four Noble Truths that liberate, this class series will invite participants into a shift from ordinary, surface-level perception to a deeper mode of direct recognition, one that is closer to insight itself. Rather than personalizing the patterns that arise in our experience, we learn to perceive them impersonally, opening space for genuine freedom in how we relate to whatever is happening.
This class series will weave in contemporary findings from cognitive science, not as abstract theory, but as practical support for understanding why these methods work and how to apply them in daily life. This series is designed for both established practitioners and newcomers curious about the intersection of contemplative wisdom and modern science.
Extended Study & Practice Opportunity in Fall 2026
This class series is the prerequisite to a Guided Study & Practice Program with Alex in Fall 2026, which will include a number of individual practice meetings and other forms of support to deepen your relationship with this material. More details on this Guided Study & Practice Program opportunity to follow. (This View to Perception class series is open to everyone, regardless if interest in the Fall 2026 Guided Study & Practice Program.)
